Own production of candles at home can be a fun hobby and entertainment. You can customize the shapes, sizes, colors and fragrances to your liking.
Wax types
There are different types of wax can be used to make candles. The melting point and flash point of any type of wax is different, and may also vary in the types of waxes. Be sure that the manufacturers guidelines on how to deal with the wax carefully before you start reading.
or paraffin –Paraffin is the most important for the manufacture of candles, and the least expensive. You can buy dyed, or you can add your own colors and scents during the merge.
or Beeswax – Beeswax is more expensive than other waxes, and has a pleasant aroma. This slack wax and has a low melting point, then use a candle as a hardener additive pure beeswax.
O Soy Wax – The all-natural wax is becoming increasingly popular. It 'so soft, you can melt in the microwave, so if youCandles with soy wax for making container candles, candle, or add hardener many.
Wax Safety
When the wax reaches its flash point, the vapors are highly flammable. If possible, use a source of heat energy to melt the wax, and always use a water bath. Water bath is to increase the temperature of the wax melts control, making the process more secure.
Never leave wax unattended, and always a fire extinguisher nearby. If youaccidentally smother a wax-fire, like a grease fire. Do not use water on a fire to remove wax.
Making Pillar Candles
Before you begin, select your preferred metal poles and shapes suitable for the diameter of a wick of the candle. In addition to your instrument, wax and wick, you need a wick screw mastic sealant or metal tape, a wick rod or stick of wood, and any dyes, perfumes and oils that you want to add.
Step or 1: Melt your wax with aThe water in the bathroom.
or Step 2: Thread your wick through the wick hole in the bottom of the shape and length are somewhat out of shape for fastening with the screw. After all, this is the end of the tip of the candle. While keeping the wick through the wick hole with wire, tie the other end to wooden sticks or cane wick.
step or 3: Secure the wick at the base with a wick screw. Drag until the fuse is tense but not too tight. Squeezing the wick too much can damage the mold or severYour wick. Trim the wick to ½ "to 1".
Seal the wick hole with mold seal or metal band. Make sure the wick is covered by all dripping with hot wax and avoid during the merger process.
Center the wick rod at the top of mold, ensure the wick is taut and straight.
or step 4: Add all dyes or fragrance oils your melted wax once it reaches 175 degrees to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a wooden spoon for stirring. When mixed, pour into molds, wax candle,Fill to ½ "below the top of the form. You can save a little 'wax for later use. Cera Allow to cool until the skin begins to form on the surface.
O Step 5: Poke holes in the candle around the wick. The holes should be less than one inch depth of the candle. These holes are to escape the air as the candle is reduced during cooling. May need to open the holes again.
Let the candle cool completely, which could take from several hours to more than oneDays, depending on the size of the candle.
Step or 6: After the candle is completely cooled, melt the wax once again saved from the original cast. Heat the wax casting to 5 degrees to 10 degrees hotter than the first, which will help the wax bond better together. Fill the air holes and sink holes just below the rim of the candle. Do not overfill. Allow candles to cool completely.
step or 7: Remove the candle from the mold. Due to the contraction during cooling the wax, the candle mustSlide easily from the mold. Otherwise, insert the candle in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, and then try again. The cold air from the refrigerator should help to reduce the candle, to publish it from the mold.
Once cut the candle is removed from the mold, the upper wick ¼ ". The level of the base, enjoy, if necessary, and!
Making Votives
The procedure for votives is similar in many respects. If the support for new shapes, with a release agent with the removal of the finished productCandles. A non-stick cooking spray works well.
Place your shapes on a surface covered with newspaper. Temperature to dissolve the wax, then fill out forms just to the lip. Try to pour gently, for the number of bubbles to minimize appear in wax. Save up to 20 percent of your wax for later use.
Let's have your votives to cool slightly. When the wax is just beginning to solidify, but is still pliable, add the wick tabs. The card should be at the bottom of the form.Manually only the wick, the need may be repeated during the cooling process again. Allow wax to cool three or four hours.
Once the wax has cooled, melt the remaining wax and fill the depression, which appeared in each votive. Heat the wax at 10 degrees to 15 degrees is hot, pour like yours, and fill in the form of votive only slightly above the lip. Cool completely.
At this point you should be able to remove the votive candles from molds. If you have problems, tryin the freezer for five minutes, or gently roll the mold in hand to form, in order to promote the release of wax.
Votives will liquefy as they burn, so use the holders were specially designed for them.
